A: It is best to follow the manufacture of your particular pressure washers’ guidelines. It is also advised to wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and pants. There will be flying debris and water when power washing so it is best to protect yourself when using this powerful equipment. Be sure to keep the area clear of all other people and pets when pressure washing, high pressure water can cause serious injury.
Q: What is soft washing?
A: Soft washing is the use of detergents and low pressure water and applying them to the exterior of the home. The detergents will “dwell” for a set amount of time and kill all organic growth such as mold, mildew, and algae. This low pressure or “soft washing” lets us clean the exterior of the home without damaging siding or disturbing window seals, electrical outlets, etc.

A: Power washing is the process of using high pressure with hot or cold water to clean surfaces. Pressure washing is the same process just a different term commonly used in the industry.
Q: What are the dark streaks on my roof?
A: The dark streaks on your roof are know as Gloeocapsa magma. This is a bacteria that grows on your roof and feeds off of the limestone granules embedded in your shingles. This reduces the roof’s effectiveness to reflect ultra violent rays and decreases the roof’s life. It is recommended to have your roof treated every 4-6 years.
Q: How often do surfaces need pressure washed?
A: Typically, exterior siding of homes need to be pressure washed or soft washed every 2 years. Some homes with heavy vegetation or a lot of tree cover could be done more frequently.

A: These are common industry terms for pressure washing equipment. “GPM” stands for “gallons per minute”, which the amount of gallons of water that the pressure washer is capable of delivering in one minute. “PSI” stands for “pounds per square inch”, which is the pressure the pressure washer is capable of delivering the water.
